Development Log


Overview:

This game is called “Who Am I?”. The player wakes up in a locked room. The player has to collect clues to find out who they are and where they are. 

After escaping the initial room, the player escapes the house and finds more houses. In each house, there is a puzzle the player can solve to get clues on who they are.

In the first puzzle, the player needs to match the button colors to the colors on the other side of the wall to get a clue.

In the second puzzle, the player needs to complete the jigsaw puzzle to get a clue.

In the third puzzle, the player needs to avoid 5 boxes in order to get a clue.

In the fourth puzzle, the player needs to traverse a maze in order to get a clue and  escape.

In the fifth puzzle, it is just a longer version of puzzle 1 with more button colors that you need to match up to the other side of the wall to get the clue.

In the sixth puzzle, you have to light up all the torches at once as fast as possible in order to get the clue.

In the seventh puzzle, the player needs to light the torches in the right order in order to get a clue.

In the eights puzzle, the player must scavenge through a room looking for a key through many boxes in order to get the clue.

In the ninth puzzle, we have a repeat of the initial room in order to get the clue.

Summary of play tests:

Week1:

  1. Level design for starting room
  2. Navmesh for player
  3. Camera rotation (left and right)
  4. F to open the cabinet door
  5. Right click to interact with manhole for clue
  6. Left click to move player

Week2:

  1. Level design for house and neighborhood
  2. Camera rotation (up and down)
  3. 3 puzzles (button, jigsaw, and torch)
  4. Walk into door of an house to get into a room with a puzzle
  5. Drops key and door appears when puzzle is completed

Feedback:

  • Make camera rotation faster
  • Add guidelines or instructions
  • Indicate which houses has been visited/which puzzles has been completed
  • Have a clues counter
  • Highlight objects to indicate it’s interactable

Week 3:

  1. Add lamps outside of houses to indicate completion 
  2. Add more puzzles (box, etc).
  3. Add manhole in every room to give player hints
  4. Add Menu
